Focused Living

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going (Ecclesiastes 9:10).

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2).

There is great power in focusing on the plan of God for your life. Jesus kept a constant vision of His purpose for being incarnate in human flesh before Him. He came to pay our sin debt, remove the curse from us, defeat our enemy, and show us how to live for God in a fallen world!

Jesus endured the agony of hell by staying focused on the end result. The joy that was set before Him was seeing the freedom His sacrifice would bring to us. What you focus on, what you set your gaze on inside is what will draw you to that very thing in your future.

There is great power in focused living; that is, in seeing where God wants you to go with your life and then taking the steps to get there. If you can see it, you’ll find a way to make it happen.

What we do with the hours of each day determine what our future will be. What I do with my time determines what I do with my life. Whatever I want in my future I must make apart of my daily habits.

You may have heard this quote: Sow a thought, reap an act. Sow an act, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap your character. Sow your character, reap your destiny.

The above verse from Ecclesiastes encourages disciplined effort.

If you have a vision to be a strong believer whose life is used by the Father to bless others, what are you doing in daily habit to make it happen? If you desire to be used of the Father to bless others, what are you putting in your reservoir of knowledge that the Holy Spirit can bring up when needed? If you want to excel in a particular discipline; sports, music, singing, public speaking, art, sales, etc., what are you doing daily to take small steps to get there? Remember, the journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step. Daily habits determine your future.

Victor Hugo said, Where no plan is laid, where the disposal of time is surrendered merely to the chance of incident, chaos will soon reign .

In the book The Power of Focus, authors Jack Canfield, Mark Hansen, and Leslie Hewitt reveal some powerful truths that will challenge you to change what you do daily. They reveal that what we do today will determine what our future will look like. If we allow ourselves to develop bad habits, their results will probably not show up until later in our lives and then they have taken their toll. None of us can escape the consequences of our choices in life. We do reap the results of our habits, good or bad.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Include in today want you want tomorrow to be. Jesus did it, so can you!
