Meditation is God’s method for the believer to develop spiritually. Meditation takes the Word oF God and drops it from the head to the heart. Ten to Fifteen minutes spent daily in meditation will build the Word of God into your spirit nature.
I spend time daily meditating the Word. I frequently meditate on faith, healing, answered prayer, who I am in Christ, the Love of God, and on scriptures that deal with personal relationships. We’re to let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly (Colossians 3:16). Throughout my day, while I’m driving, during a break time, or often as I drift off to sleep or awaken at night, I use the time to meditate. The time you spend meditating on the Word of God will increase your peace, your sense of rest, your faith, your awareness of God, and will lessen the impact of the daily challenges that life brings. Meditation prepares you on the inside for the pressures that life so often brings on the outside.
Remember that the Word of God contain tremendous power; power to heal; power to transform your conduct; power to change circumstances:
But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4 - NKJV).
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63- NKJV).
And we also [especially] thank God continually for this, that when you received the message of God [which you heard] from us, you welcomed it not as the word of [mere] men, but as it truly is, the Word of God, which is effectually at work in you who believe [exercising its superhuman power in those who adhere to and trust in and rely on it] (1 Thessalonians 2:13 - AMP).
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away
(Matthew 24:35- NKJV).
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11 - NKJV)
So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls (James 1:21- AMP).
I’ll leave you today with these scriptures referring to meditation. Take 10 or 15 minutes every day to take the Word into your mind slowly, and mutter it to yourself. Mutter and think over a scripture and let the nuances of meaning it has for your life flood your thoughts. Meditation gives spiritual wisdom. And wisdom is the ability to use the knowledge you acquire.
Notice these references to meditation on God’s Word:
Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still (Psalm 4:4).
When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches (Psalm 63:6).
I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, and my spirit makes diligent search (Psalm 77:6).
I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways (Psalm 119:15).
Make me understand the way of Your precepts; so shall I meditate on Your wonderful works (Psalm 119:27).
My hands also I will lift up to Your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on Your statutes (Psalm 119:48).
Let the proud be ashamed, for they treated me wrongfully with falsehood; but I will meditate on Your precepts (Psalm 119:78).
My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may meditate on Your word (Psalm 119:148).
I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands (Psalm 143:5).
I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works (Psalm 145:5).
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8).
Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all (1 Timothy 4:15).
