Refreshing

Susan and I are leaving today for Fort Worth, Texas. We’ll be attending a minister’s meeting with Kenneth Copeland there at their ministry headquarters.

The meetings are Tuesday through Thursday, and we will return on Friday.

It’s needful for any pastor to find a place to be refreshed on occasion. The days will be absolutely packed with meetings, one right after the other. We’ll get immersed in the Word!

If it’s like last year, then the speakers will include such folk as Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Jerry Savelle, Jesse Duplantis, Mark Barclay, Happy Caldwell, Mac Hammond, Bill Winston, Creflo, Dollar, Keith Moore, Billye Brim, Rick Renner, and perhaps others.

Paul had a pastor’s conference in Ephesus and gave the pastors in attendance the following admonition. Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood (Acts 20:28).

If I as a pastor am to continue to be effective in reaching others, I must keep myself built up. Paul said to the pastor’s, take heed to yourselves. A pastor can’t help others unless he takes care of himself and his own spiritual needs.

In Leviticus 8, the priests ministered to and waited on the Lord seven days, offering the prescribed sacrifices for themselves before they ministered on behalf of the Israelites. It’s a wise pattern.

Take time each day to build yourself up spiritually. If you do, you’ll have something to offer the people that the Lord sends across your path each day.

I’ll continue to blog daily, and I’ll update you as to how the meetings are going!
