Right now, we are in an extreme drought, more severe than ever. Other parts of our nation have experienced fires, floods, and ravaging storms. Could these be linked to what is happening with our government pushing for a Palestinian state?
Our society is coming unraveled at the edges. Illegal immigration is changing the face of our nation and bringing an undue burden on our infrastructure; the family unit is in the process of being redefined to include homosexual couples; our youth are being exposed to godless ideology that is redefining social mores; crime is on the increase; we have become the largest debtor nation in the world; our currency is being devalued. This list seems endless.
These are not signs of the blessings of God. These are indications of a nation that as a whole has chosen mammon as god in the places of God Almighty and His moral absolutes. The price paid is high for those who forsake God’s best.
I am a positive person by nature, and I always look for the best in everything. But we must not hide our heads in the sand when we see these disturbing trends. They should drive us to our knees in prayer, crying out to God for mercy on the nation that we live in and love.
Let’s not sit back passively while these things continue. Let’s pursue the purpose for which God has left us on earth, to proclaim by word and lifestyle that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!
Let’s pray for our leaders, from the President on down. Let’s ask the Father for a spirit of repentance to fall upon our nation. It’s our only hope.
Let’s pursue this promise from scripture: If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
